Rejuvime Medical

Something is happening to me. It used to be after a long workweek or a girl’s night out, but now it is every night.

Here is the scenario: I go to bed at my usual time around 10 p.m. I take my shower, go through my routine of cleansing, toning, tightening, and protecting my skin, and place my head on my silk pillow to recap the day until I fall asleep. But somehow, between 9 p.m. and 6:30 am, something extreme happens.

After tossing and turning all night, getting up to use the bathroom at least three times, and then snoozing at least twice I wake up to a stranger. On the other side of my vanity mirror is some wreck of a woman who must have gone 10 rounds with Mohammad Ali last night.

I say this because I wake up with my eyes all puffy, my once smooth hair unruly and frizzy now resembling a madwoman character who could easily audition for Tim Burton’s next movie! It is seriously that bad. This terrible 8-hour transformation is due to my newly acquired night sweats, and exhaustion even after going to bed at “mawmaw” hours like my husband jokes. As I sit in front of the mirror not recognizing the lady looking back, I try to scroll through Pinterest to find the best and easiest “messy bun.” Maybe today is the day I achieve the “I just woke up look” like Jennifer Anniston; I mean we are nearly the same age. With a sigh at my failed attempt, I realize I am doing nothing to battle this new and VERY unwanted visitor in my life.

In every other area of my life I am a fighter. I fight for my kids to have everything I didn’t have growing up. I fight to keep the love alive between me and the hubs even when I just want to scream. I fight the urge to pull into Baskin Robbins when they have two-dollar Tuesdays! So why take this lying down?

Symptoms of Menopause

I know what “this” is, but I am in denial. This CANNOT really be happening. But it is. I just made 44 three weeks ago and instead of sailing off to retire in Italy like my 20-year-old self thought I would; I am spending my retirement money on my extremely high air conditioning bill, loose-fitting blouses, and moisturizer.

With a snug of my stretchiest jeans I think “Hello menopause, you win….”

Nope! I can’t. I won’t accept this new life. I won’t be robbed of my figure, my face, my joy, and my love life! This cannot be my new normal:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Loss of libido (don’t even think about it, mister)
  • Vaginal dryness and pain (like I said, “roll back over, honey”)
  • Itching or discomfort during sex (when we actually have it)
  • Heart palpitations (not the good kind like when you think you see Ryan Gosling in line at Whole Foods but the “Why is my heart racing? Am I going to die?!” kind!)
  • Headaches for no good reason
  • Dry skin (more like peeling, itchy, blotchy)
  • Severe mood changes, such as depression, anxiety, or tiredness (severe is putting it mildly)
  • Sleeping problems (like those mentioned above) including insomnia
  • And last but not least, urinary tract infections. (Cranberry juice has become my drink of choice.)

Today is the day I take the first step to fighting the menopause thief. I will make that appointment for hormone replacement therapy.

Does the above sound like an excerpt from your life? If you too don’t want to be robbed by the menopause thief then consider bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Here at Rejuvime Medical, we help women battling the symptoms of low estrogen and menopause regain their vitality and their sense of self. They refuse to be a victim to menopause and are experiencing life the way it should be lived. With the help of BHRT, they are fighting back! Here is why we recommend BHRT to women experiencing any of the above symptoms at any age.

What Hormones Are Included in Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Once you meet with our nurses and doctor your BHRT will be formulated to replenish exactly what your body is lacking. Your individual hormone replacement therapy will consist of these:

Estrogen: Estrogen can help with hot flashes, sleep, energy, depression, anxiety, irritability, brain fog, memory, joint or muscle pain, bone strength, sex drive, vaginal dryness, dry skin, and much more. Many women “feel like themselves” again or just feel that their quality of life is better because they feel better physically and emotionally.

Progesterone: Progesterone can be very calming and help with sleep, anxiety, and mood. In some cases, it will decrease swelling and pain. A small percentage of women do not tolerate progesterone well. Progesterone is usually, but not always, needed when a woman is taking estrogen.

Bio-identical progesterone can be safely taken by mouth or as a skin cream. Some women will prefer the capsules for convenience. Another advantage of the oral route is the increased sleep-inducing effect when taken at bedtime. For some women progesterone capsules are a sleep miracle because they strongly stimulate the GABA receptors in the brain.

Testosterone: Testosterone is also an important hormone for women’s sexuality, both libido and orgasmic function. It increases muscle mass and exercise endurance. Testosterone can improve mood, motivation, brain focus, and sense of pleasure or reward because it increases the neurotransmitter dopamine in the brain.

Why Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy?

We believe in replacing the body’s hormones with only bio-identical hormone supplements. When we use hormones, we always use them in a bio-identical form. This means that the hormones supplements are exactly the same hormones as those made by the female body—the same estrogens, progesterone, and testosterone. This approach does not involve synthetic hormones like medroxyprogesterone, Provera®, or norethindrone; nor does it entail the use of hormone supplements manufactured from the urine of pregnant horses like conjugated equine estrogens or Premarin®.

Always consider the source and make sure you are having lab tests run to determine your hormone level. No doctor can look at you and judge what you need by your age or symptoms. At Rejuvime we fully customize your BHRT to your specific needs and monitor your progress with frequent lab tests so modifications can be made as necessary. We want to help you gain back your control over your life and your body. No one deserves to be an easy target for the menopause thief!
